There are three main components to this lab activity:
The Recordings
The Spreadsheet
The Post-Lab Questions
This assignment will be worth 25 performance task points.
The Recordings
5 pts. — 15 recordings are presented. The recordings are crisp and easy to hear — not too loud, not too soft. Recorded in low-noise environments for the most part, and are correctly labeled.
3 pts. — Some recordings are missing or are incorrectly labeled. The sounds/noises contain some unwanted background noise and are sometimes difficult to identify.
1 pt. — Many records are missing, most are incorrectly labeled or not labeled at all. Excessive background noise, and the sounds are incomprehensible.
The Spreadsheet
5 pts. — The spreadsheet is neatly organized into proper subgroups for each sound attribute/characteristic. The sounds are described in great detail. The spreadsheet corresponds to the sound recordings in a logical manner.
3 pts. — The spreadsheet is somewhat organized. The sounds are described in a little detail, and the recordings don’t always respond to the recordings.
1 pt. — The spreadsheet is a mess. The sounds are not described and there is no connection to the sound recordings in any meaningful way.
The Post-Lab Questions
3 pts. each — The question is thoroughly answered with a strong voice in words that are the writer’s own. No detail or idea is spared. Calculations are accurate.
2 pts. each — The questions are somewhat answered, usually in only a sentence or two. The work for calculations is not shown.
1 pt. each — The questions are barely answered in only yes or no answers. No calculations. The writer’s words are not their own.
