Physics Newscast Rubric

Total: 25 pts. 

  • 2 pts. — Chosen physics concept/topic is clearly identified.

  • 3 pts. — School scenario is:

    • appropriate

    • recognizable

    • easy to follow, narratively

  • 5 pts. — Visual storyboard presents a clear progression that includes an in-depth, coherent explanation of the chosen physics concept or topic.

    • Storyboard should be between 7 and 12 slides/index cards. 

  • 3 pts. — Students write a brief script for their broadcast.

    • This does not need to be exact but should include all of the major “beats” of the story as outlined in the storyboard and more than just a bulleted list.

  • 10 pts. — The News Broadcast.

    • Video and audio are clear.

    • Edited to be concise and to the point.

    • Music, photos, and slides are used.

    • The style of the video is on theme with being a news report.

    • The content of the video is accurate and deeply explores a physics concept or idea in an everyday school situation. 

  • 2 pts. — The video is published to the digital library spreadsheet on Google Classroom.
