Objectives
Students will be able to…
Record 15 sounds based on the different characteristics of sounds, including frequency, amplitude, spatial positioning, duration, and texture.
Organize the sounds by labeling them by attribute and making a corresponding spreadsheet that describes the sounds in detail.
Calculate the wavelength of three sounds given their wave speed and frequency.
Standards
Next Gen Science Standards
HS-PS4-1. Use mathematical representations to support a claim regarding relationships among the frequency, wavelength, and speed of waves traveling through various media.
MS-PS4-1. Use mathematical representations to describe a simple model for waves that includes how the amplitude of a wave is related to the energy in a wave.
MS-PS4-2. Develop and use a model to describe that waves are reflected, absorbed, or transmitted through various materials.
